Berndt Adolf Lindholm (1841-1914) was a Finnish landscape painter, known for his association with the Düsseldorf School and early Impressionist elements in his work. Born in Loviisa, Finland, Lindholm specialized in coastal scenes and was one of the first Finnish artists to embrace French landscape painting, applying it to Nordic nature.
He studied at the drawing school of the Finnish Art Society in Turku and later at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe. Lindholm’s time in Paris significantly influenced his style, where he was exposed to the works of Léon Bonnat and the Barbizon school.
Lindholm’s career included teaching at the Finnish Art Society’s drawing school and serving as the Curator of the Gothenburg city art collection. His works are represented in several prestigious museums, including the National museum in Stockholm and the Turku Art Museum
