Description
Athena is a paradoxical goddess, embodying both masculine and feminine traits. In mythology, she presents an androgynous power, blending wisdom and war. Gustav Klimt’s depiction of Athena, especially in his 1898 painting “Pallas Athene,” focuses on her divinity rather than sexuality, contrasting with his other works featuring overtly sexual femmes fatales. Klimt’s portrayal suggests that power can be a catalyst for sexual instincts, making Athena his most powerful female figure.
